Gap Insurance
This endorsement will pay for some or all of the difference between the balance of a loan or lease on a vehicle and what NJM pays if the car suffers a covered total loss. It does not pay for deductibles, carry-over balances from prior loans or leases, missed payments, or late fees. For policies issued or renewed after 6/1/19, this protection cannot be added more than 30 days after you add the car to your policy.§ Learn more.
Transportation Expense
You can purchase a higher rental reimbursement limit. Increased limits are only available for insured vehicles with physical damage (comprehensive) coverage. Learn more.
NJM Roadside Assistance
There are two options available — $75 or $125 per covered emergency§ — and no deductible applies to this coverage. Learn more about this endorsement.
Trailer/Camper Body Coverage (Maximum Limit of Liability)
Liability coverage is automatically provided for bodily injury or property damage caused while a trailer or camper is towed by an insured vehicle. Other than Collision (Comprehensive) and Collision coverage can be purchased to provide protection for the trailer or camper body as well as facilities and equipment such as cooking, dining, plumbing, or refrigeration facilities, awnings or cabanas designed to be used with the trailer or camper.
TNC Rideshare Endorsement
Transportation Network Companies (“TNC”), such as Uber, Uber Eats, Amazon Flex, and Lyft, typically offer a ridesharing or delivery service which uses smart-phone applications and other internet-based platforms to connect users with drivers who use their personal autos to provide transportation services for a fee. The TNC Rideshare Endorsement fills gaps in insurance protection afforded by the TNC’s commercial insurance coverage in certain situations.
TNC Rideshares have 3 different phases:
- Phase 1 - Standby Period: TNC Driver is logged into the app and available for a ride request but has not yet accepted a request.
- Phase 2 - TNC Driver accepts a ride request but the passenger is not physically in the vehicle.
- Phase 3 - TNC Rider is in the TNC Driver's vehicle.
Coverage is determined based on the phase the driver is in at the time of loss. For example:
Liability:
- Phase 1: Fills the gap in coverage between the TNC's commercial policy limit and the NJM coverage limit. Insurance provided by NJM will be excess over other collectible insurance.
- Phase 2 and Phase 3: No coverage is provided by NJM.
UM/UIM:
- Phase 1: Provides coverage that is excess to the TNC's commercial policy limit up to the NJM coverage limit.
- Phase 2 and Phase 3: No coverage is provided by NJM.
PIP/First Party Medical:
- Phase 1: Full PIP coverage is provided for NJM's insured TNC Driver.
- Phase 2 and Phase 3: PIP coverage is provided for NJM's insured TNC Driver; however, there is no PIP coverage for a TNC Rider.
Physical Damage (if applicable):
- Phase 1: Full coverage
- Phase 2 and Phase 3: Coverage is limited to reimbursement of the difference between the TNC carrier's deductible and the NJM deductible. This applies only to the extent that the TNC deductible is greater than the NJM deductible.
