Defensive Driving (NJ only)
Complete a classroom or online course approved by the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC) for a discount to your liability, PIP and collision premiums that applies for up to three years. A discount may be applied to an operator who at any age:
- Completes a minimum of 30 clock hours of classroom instruction plus a minimum of six clock hours of behind-the-wheel instruction. These requirements may be met in either of the following ways:
The course was successfully completed at a public secondary school, a technical education and career school, or a private secondary school.
The course was successfully completed at a licensed driver's school approved by the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles.
- Available to drivers under 21 years of age who complete 30 hours of classroom instruction and six hours behind-the-wheel training, or three hours behind-the-wheel training and 12 hours in an approved driving simulator.

Full Coverage
If you carry both collision and other than collision (comprehensive), a discount will automatically be applied to your policy.§
Good Student Discount
At NJM, we’re committed to education both on and off the road. If you’re a high school or college student who’s made honor roll or Dean’s List or has at least a B average or 3.0 GPA, you may qualify for a discount.

A discount applies for drivers over a certain age who have taken a qualified course.

A Mature Driver Accident Prevention Course discount applies for up to two years for drivers who have taken an approved course.
The driver must be 60 years or older.
Within the past year, the driver must have completed an approved accident prevention course.
The driver must take an approved course every 2 years to continue eligibility for the discount. The course must be completed within one year of the discount's expiration date.
A Mature Driver Program discount applies for up to three years for drivers who have taken an approved course. The driver must be at least 55 years of age.
A Mature Driver Program discount applies for up to three years for drivers who have taken an approved course.
The driver of the vehicle must be at least 60 years of age
The driver must voluntarily complete an approved Motor Vehicle Accident Prevention Course
The driver must take an approved course every three years to continue to be eligible for the discount
A Mature Driver Improvement discount applies to liability, first party benefits, uninsured motorists, underinsured motorists, comprehensive and collision premiums for up to three years after all named insureds take an approved course.
All named insureds must be 55 years or older
Within the past three years, all named insureds on the Declarations Page must have voluntarily completed a motor vehicle driver improvement course meeting criteria established by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation
The named insureds must take an approved course every three years to continue to be eligible for the discount
The discount will be eliminated if any named insured is involved in a chargeable accident, convicted of a moving violation, or has participated in Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition (ARD) for driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance
Multi-Vehicle Discount
If two or more vehicles are insured on the same policy, a multi-car discount is applied to each one.
New Car
If your car is two model years old or newer, we'll apply a discount.§
Paid in Full*
Pay your policy premium in full, rather than in monthly installments, and you'll receive a discount.§
Paperless Discount
If you sign up for paperless delivery of documents, you’ll receive a discount.
Vehicle Safety Equipment Discount
You may be eligible for a discount on your policy for each auto equipped with an anti-theft or vehicle recovery device; anti-lock brakes; or passive restraints.
